Sustainability
In Minera Sud Argentina⠀we understand sustainability as the commitment to generate shared value, promoting the social and economic development of the communities where we operate, while respecting and caring for natural resources. Our approach is based on working responsibly, prioritizing active listening and collaboration with local actors to build trust relationships and generate positive and lasting impacts.
Our sustainable approach
Our sustainability strategy focuses on two key areas: water and education⠀defined from a permanent dialogue with communities and in response to the main needs of the region. These pillars are essential to ensure an equitable, resilient and opportunities for growth.
- Water: We work with local institutions to improve water infrastructure, optimize irrigation systems and collaborate in strengthening potable plants, ensuring access to safe water and promoting efficient use of resources.
- Education: We support the strengthening of the education system by improving school infrastructure, providing equipment and teaching training, with a strong focus on technology and robotics to expand the opportunities of young people.
Actions that transform
Between 2024 and 2025, we have assigned more than 35,8 million Argentine pesos in social initiatives, prioritizing the southern area of the department of Church (Bella Vista, Villa Iglesia and Las Flores), within a radius of about 75 km of our project in the Quebrada de Chita.
Some of the main actions include:
✅ Education
- Duct donations for the 17 of August High School.
- Provision of resources and infrastructure improvements to 4 primary schools.
- Implementation of a robotic with kits and training, benefiting more than 40 students per group.
✅ Water
- Cooperation agreements with the Hydraulic Authority and local organizations for the improvement of irrigation channels and potable plants.
✅ Other Community contributions
- Lighting of the town square of Villa Iglesia.
- Support for local sports activities.
In addition, we have invested USD 22.018 improvement of school infrastructure, with direct impact on more than 350 children and 40 teachers⠀strengthening safer and more equipped educational spaces.
Budget and projections
Our Social Investment Plan 2025 It has a budget aligned to the operational cycle of progress in our Chita Valley project, allowing us to plan and invest more strategically and efficiently. By the first half of 2025, we planned to continue to expand the water conventions and to strengthen the technological training of young people, strengthening our commitment to an inclusive and real impact sustainability.
Training and employability - First Semester 2025
During the first half of 2025, in alliance with the Municipality of Church and with the support of specialized teachers from the city of San Juan, Minera Sud Argentina (MSA) promoted courses of home, English and robotic electricity in Villa Iglesia and Las Flores.
The initiative emerged from a pre-community consultation on their training and employability needs, and enabled more than 50 participants to train in high-demand trades and technologies.
- Home electricity⠀15 graduates (60 per cent women) certified basic knowledge and presented boards with good plant practice.
- English: 17 participants created English-language tourist posters, applying the lessons learned to local advocacy.
- Robotic: children and adolescents participated in two levels, with a final competition in the CIC of Las Flores, programming and adapting their own robots.
The experience was developed in municipal facilities on weekends, with enthusiasm and commitment of the attendees. The total investment benefited more than 40 people with higher employability opportunities and more than 60 children with new technological skills.
